A message from Dr. Rosenberg and Francine Dupuis: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Dear CIUSSS staff,

Today marks the first-ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. It is also a day to appreciate the vital importance of cultural well-being and develop an understanding of the reality members of the Indigenous community continue to face.

Our CIUSSS prides itself in being a diverse, accepting and inclusive environment. Together, we have the opportunity to embark on a brighter and more understanding future. To get there, we must continue to educate ourselves and each other, as we strive to build bridges between people of different backgrounds.

As a way of continuing this vital conversation, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) is providing our employees with a training program that aims to sensitize our staff and raise awareness about Native experiences.

To gain a better understanding of the findings and recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, more information can be found via the  National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

We also invite you to  CLICK HERE to continue exploring the rich and diverse cultures and experiences of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. You can also join this important conversation on social media by following @GCIndigenous on your preferred platforms.

Thank you for your engagement.

Francine Dupuis
